  Kalen Taylor is being recognized by the Innovate Council Canada as the inaugural recipient of the Winnipeg Regional Innovate Challenge award for transforming how the city approaches affordable housing, inclusive employment, and social enterprise. As Executive Director of Purpose Construction, Kalen lead a trades‑training social enterprise that revitalizes vacant properties into affordable homes while creating meaningful jobs for historically excluded groups. Beyond this, their leadership has helped advance Winnipeg’s social innovation ecosystem through pioneering community‑owned development and social impact investment. Kalen’s vision proves that inclusive economic growth and professional excellence can, and must, go hand in hand.
